What is a Bias Cutter?

A bias cutter is a machine used in the manufacturing of tire components.

Its primary function is to cut tire cord fabric (usually a composite material of rubber and fibers such as cotton cord, rayon cord, nylon cord, etc.) at a specific angle, typically 45 degrees or other required angles.

For example, in the manufacturing process of bias tires, the tire cord fabric is usually arranged in a 45-degree cross pattern.

The bias cutter cuts the tire cord fabric at the designed angle to achieve the cross-ply arrangement required for bias tires.

The bias cutter can also be used in the production of radial tires.

Although the main carcass ply of radial tires is arranged radially and typically does not use a bias cutter, specialized radial cutting equipment is used instead.

However, in the production of the reinforcement layers for radial tires, these layers are often cut at angles less than 90 degrees to provide better strength and stability.

In this case, the bias cutter can be used to cut these reinforcement materials.

Advantages of Horizontal Bias Cutters

Early bias cutters were likely vertically designed because of their simpler construction and ease of manufacture.

However, with changing market demands and advancements in production technology, higher cutting precision and production efficiency are required.

Horizontal bias cutters address these new challenges. Horizontal designs provide more stable material transport, higher cutting precision, and easier operation, especially suitable for the production of large tires and continuous automated production lines.

Advantages:

  • Horizontal Bias Cutters offer more convenient operation and can support large materials while reducing material displacement caused by gravity.
  • Horizontal Bias Cutters are more stable, ensuring that materials do not deviate during the cutting process due to vertical movement, thereby improving cutting precision.

We offer various horizontal bias cutters for industrial applications, such as the Horizontal Type Bias Cutter AW-HB-IA-M2, Radial Tire Horizontal Type Bias Cutter AW-HB-IA-PCR, and Low Table Type, Twin Let-Off, Single Wind-Up Turn Over Type Wind-Up Unit AW-HB-IA-M.

Advanced automation technology brings better production efficiency. If you have any questions about our bias cutters, please feel free to contact us!
